9 Elements of the Form

9 Elements of the Form

reikiThe Nine Elements of the Form

Some years ago, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, the grand master of The Reiki Alliance, established the Nine Elements of the Form, that define the Usui System of Reiki Healing. In order for it to be Reiki, these 9 aspects must be fully present. Otherwise, what is being done cannot be called Reiki.

History, within the four sessions in which the first degree is taught, the master tells his/her story (how he/she got to know the Usui System and the reasons that made him/her leave his/her profession and accept living like a vagabond of the world, and go and teach wherever he/she is needed). The master also explains how the USUI SHIKI RYOHO is transmitted through the spoken word.

Lineage, we tell the pupils how the energy came from Dr.Usui to them (all the masters in the sequence – usually from Dr. Usui to Dr. Hayashi, then Mrs. Takata and then one of the masters initiated as a master by her, and so forth – it is extremely important that the chain is unbroken). This also means that a master needs to be a real master (trained as a master by a qualified master) and have walked the path he/she is trying to learn for several years before attempting to teach it.

Reiki Lineage of Mayni

Mayni’s lineage: Dr. Usui -> Dr. Hayashi -> Mrs. Takata -> Phyllis Lei Furumoto -> Anugama H. Marg -> Mayni

Principles; to be explained in detail at the course:

  • Just for today do not worry
  • Just for today do not anger
  • Honor your parents, teachers and elders
  • Earn your living honestly
  • Show gratitude to every living thing

Oral Transmission, all books or publications about the Usui System, including this page, are the opinion of the person who writes, with his/her stage of evolution at the moment of writing. The Essence, as with music, cannot be transmitted by written words. You can only feel the energy we’re talking about being there. As the wolf says to the Little Prince: “The essential is invisible to the eyes, it’s only seen clearly with the heart.”

Initiations, 4 individual Initiations (attunements) in First Degree, 1 individual Initiation in Second Degree, 1 individual Initiation when becoming a master.*

Sacred symbols and sounds, in second degree you learn three symbols with their mantras (sounds). With them you can do Reiki at a distance, through time, for communicating with different levels of consciousness and endless other practical applications.

Financial Commitment, the prices where fixed by Mrs. Takata Sensei with her master, Dr. Hayashi in the 1920s. They are, at a minimum, 150 US dollars is the price for First Degree, $500 for Second Degree and $10.000 the Mastership. The prices haven’t increased since then. When getting into the Euro, prices where settled and fixed in Euros at that time (for Europe), although some countries charge a little higher due to taxes. Treatments are also charged, but their price varies according to the financial level of the city, as well as the expertise of the practitioner.

Form of the treatments. It is explained in the course.

Ethics, we compromise ourselves to keep absolutely private the things we get to know about the person we’re treating. We don’t say “I healed,” because it is Reiki who heals, in all levels of the Being. Reiki is who knows what is best for each of us. The ethical components of Reiki are thoroughly explained at the course.

In the website of The Reiki Alliance you can read a deeper explanation of the Nine Elements of the Form of Usui Shiki Ryoho.

*: With Second Degree you have all the knowledge and tools you need for you life and world. Becoming a master is not a way of gaining more personal power, it’s only a way of sharing it with others. Becoming a master is not a weekend course, rather a personal process that takes between a few months and a few years, after a minimum of 1 year practice after Second Degree.
